Corporate Portals And E-business Integration Enterprise integration

Question: Discuss about the Corporate Portals And E-business Integration Enterprise integration? Answer: Problem Statement The case study reflects the Apple Co. to be experiencing some serious turbulence during its earlier days. The companys growth has been stagnant post some controversial decision taken at the very tender age of the company by the BODs. Steve Jobs has been accused of being unproductive and uncontrollable and before the board could come up with their decision Steve decided to bail out. Despite of being recognized as the producer of the most refined consumer product the Apple has been unresponsive to the importance and need of music. After being strangled by the competition Steve Jobs was again invited back to take over the position of being one of the BODs to revolutionize and incorporate innovative ideas to the product range of the Apple. With the return of Jobs the company introduced its innovative and colorful translucent iMacs, which significantly was developed without the floppy disc drive. The younger community has always been gadget oriented; at the era of translucent iMacs the consumers have been provided with the CD burning and sharing activities, which the iMac did not have. Apple had to pay big time for this mistake as the younger community started to lose its faith and interest in those translucent iMacs (Steinwart and Ziegler, 2014). Steve immediately started to react and when convinced that music are an integral necessity of consumers and a durable attribute of a PC performance the Apple started to double their efforts in order to regain the image and attractiveness of Apple. Jeff Robbin who was previously working in the Apple as a software engineer was one of the developers of MP Music Player. When Apple decided to regain its attractiveness among especially the younger generation they started their ventu re for a music player that is compatible with the iMac OS (Operating System). It was somewhat alien for a company who claim to be the best at what they do to incorporate a ready-made music player. The Apple immediately licensed the Soundjam MP Musicplayer, along with the acquisition of Soundjam the Apple had to rehire Jeff Robbin as it was necessary for the company to make the music player compatible with the Apple operating system. Apple decided to rename the Soundjam as iTunes post acquisition, as it also was necessary to recreate the brand name. However, Soundjam was restructured to make it compatible with the Mac OS (operating system); it lacked the sophistication and elegance. Steve had a demand for elegance for everything that has an association with the Apple. Jeff Robbin had no option but to react to the commitment of Jobs to bring out the factor of elegance in the Soundjam interface. ITunes was first introduced in the year of 2001 in the Macworld conference and Expo. Besides being at the top of computer software and hardware world the Apple had to face severe turbulence. Prior to the introduction of the IPods and Iphones the Apple had to face a lot of trouble for they could not decide over what could be the platform they can provide to their consumers from all around the world. At the earlier era of Apple they lacked the market understanding regarding the determinants that could change the perspective of their customers. The innovative culture of the Apple helped the organization to regain its image of being the top leader among the rest. Prior to the recognition of the importance of music Steve Jobs could not understand how this particular attribute of the PC performance could help them regain their brand image and once convinced Steve incorporated the feature of iTunes, which revolutionized the way the younger generation saw iMacs. Analysis of the case study From the case study it has been analyzed that there has been revolutionary changes in Apple took place. Apple when started its musical journey was concentrating on the stationary jukebox and founded a new type of music which is not at all favoured by the customers. After that with the development of the personal jukebox it has been evolved that a juke box project team has been developed which is useful for making the musical platform in a proper way. After that the product has been launched into the market and it has been observed that the sale value of the product could be degraded and the launching was expensive (Apple, 1999). It has also been analyzed that Apple could develop the video transfer and develop the iTV and from this Apple Digital Hub strategy has created and after that the MCs has been established by Apple which has changed the market scenario. While Apple was concentrating on sharing of the videos the target consumer market was learning how to share music on the perso nal PCs and the current version of iMacs were fast losing the customers attention. After that when Apple has seen that the customers are not paying attention in sharing of the videos Apple made a new strategy of implementing iTunes and this has incurred a heavy loss for Steve Jobs. After that from the case study analysis it has been analyzed that Apple has introduced the innovation strategy and it has made reputation and innovativeness to have the experience of music on the personal PCs and the users. Jobs masterstroke could be the introduction of the translucently colourful iMacs which has made a change in the sales performance of Apple. Once it has been convinced there has been the elimination of the floppy disc drive it has the aesthetic and the technical benefits, this choice flew in the CD burning and sharing activities which were sweeping across the communities of the people and it attracts the customers of different communities. After that with the advent of the iMacs there has been the introduction of the file sharing and downloading the music from the ITunes have become easily accessible for the customers as a result the customers are satisfied which improves the recognition of Apple. From the study it has also been analyzed that the strategy of Apple is to focus on the customers and on the introduction of innovation in the product line of Apple as well in the corporate culture of Apple. There was the development of new technological project team and the introduction of Apple engineers to specify and make innovation in the different products with the birth of the IPod. After that when Jobs returned in the year 1997 to take control over the situation there has been reduction in the portfolio of the products as with the focus on the huge product lines there has been confusion and degrading in the quality of the products so Steve Jobs has reduced the portfolio and increase the quality of the products so that Apple should not compete with the PC manufacturers and Apple took the strategy to sell their products to the premium customers at the premium pricing which indicates that there would be no compromise in the prices of the products. After that the other strategy wh ich made Apple renowned all over the world is that they have a wonderful and skilled design team which make the designing o0f the iPod unique so as to attract the youth segment of customers. So it has been concluded from the analysis that Apple has given the birth of iPod which is extremely useful in capturing the market of Apple in the world. Group Charter and Self and Peer Assessment Group charter or team charter is a developed document which generally signifies the setting of groups in a particular organization in order to determine the working abilities in between the employees as well as in between the respective student of the institution. Here in this particular report the aspect of group charter as well as self peer assessment has been significantly depicted. Also, the respective rules, norms and structure along with different responsibilities have been accustomed in this report in order to measure the overall criteria of group charter (Koren, 2010). Rules, Norms, Values and Structure The overall team charter of the real world company Apple Inc has been depicted in this respective report. Therefore, there are certain rules as well as norms that have been followed for the purpose of achieving the values of group charter. The overall aspects have structured two purposes. Secondly, it can educate other members like the leaders of the organization as well as other working groups. This will effectively illustrate the team as well. Thirdly, inducing more time in investing will easily help to generate the significance of reducing the overall confusions concerning the objectives. The charter has depicted the values of these particular norms in order to reduce the risk of reducing the rework. This procedure will pertain the significance of accuracy for completion of projects in first chance with avoiding any discrepancies in the f uture. The structures of the charter have been subdivided into different parts so that the team suffice the overall working procedure efficiently. This will reduce the pressure of work load with suitability to understand the reflection of controlling the team. The thinking of different techniques as well through definite scope emphasizes the overall spectrum for the organization to deliver innovative products and services (Koren, 2010). Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations There are ample circumstances to deliver the aspects of overall roles represented by the team that has supported and organized the charter. The roles played by the team members have sufficed a lot of progressive implication which will generate efficiency in an organization. So the responsibilities taken by the team heads should be efficiently controlled. In order of that, Listing of every individual has to be made in order to cumulate the objectives of completion of projects. Setting of different parameters will significantly help the team leaders as well as the leaders of the groups so as to establish a clear identification of respective vital task. The important responsibility of the charter will accustom the aspects of commitment to the respective clients that required the overall perspective of selling the products in the market. Thus the pre determined goals of the organization will be achieved through the aspects of the sponsors that have induced much more values into the business. The team members should effectively define the goals to the other members in order to achieve the desired results as well as higher appreciation. Therefore, from this purpose the overall magnitud e of the changes will evidently endeavour higher values to the organization. The team members have to ascertain the purpose of overall supporting resources that may help to complete the project. Therefore, this particular resource will also add efficient values in determining the aspects of completing the project as per the activities projected by the team members. There are other resources that are solely dependent on the activities of the team that are different blueprints of the projects as well as authorities and the software used in the group charter activities in self and peer assessment.
